Neil Gaiman's 2006 collection of short stories and poems Fragile Things is a wide-ranging compilation of genres, tones and qualities. Some of the selections here ("Sunbird," "October in the Chair") were spectacular, others were unbelievably creepy, and the points of a few eluded me entirely. Throughout, though, Gaiman's versatile ability to tell a good story is evident.
Accompanied by a short introduction to each piece, most of which were published in other forms before this, Fragile Things is probably required reading for the Gaiman fan, but may not be the best introduction to his work.
